8BitDo is expanding its Retro R8 mouse series with a Commodore 64 Edition that targets retro gaming enthusiasts. The mouse maintains the same core specifications as previous models, featuring a PAW 3395 optical sensor with six DPI levels ranging from 50 to 26,000 DPI. Users can achieve polling rates up to 8,000 Hz when wired and 4,000 Hz over 2.4G wireless, though Bluetooth connections are limited to 125 Hz.

Like its predecessors, the C64 Edition sports a symmetrical design suitable for both left and right-handed users. The mouse includes four programmable side buttons configurable through the 8BitDo Ultimate Software. While 8BitDo hasn't specified the switch type for this variant, the NES-inspired N Edition uses Kailh Sword GM X micro switches. The mouse ships with a charging dock that doubles as a wireless signal extender.

Battery life ranges from 26 to 105 hours on 2.4G depending on polling rate, or up to 100 hours over Bluetooth. A full charge takes approximately 2.5 hours. The mouse supports all three connection modes: Bluetooth LE 5.3, 2.4G wireless, and wired USB. Priced at $49.99, the 8BitDo Retro R8 C64 Edition matches the cost of the existing NES-inspired N Edition.
