X rolls out custom timelines for Premium users

Head of product Nikita Bier unveiled X’s new custom timelines, letting users pin a single topic to the home tab and flip between feeds for hobbies, news, or niche interests. The rollout arrives after months of engineering and is billed as one of the platform’s biggest changes to date, promising a more curated experience for power users.

The feature draws on Grok’s post‑level understanding to personalize each stream, offering 75 topics ranging from food and art to finance and TV. Engagement on a given subject improves the algorithm’s relevance, mirroring similar tools launched on Bluesky and Threads earlier this year. Currently, custom timelines are in early‑access and limited to Premium subscribers on iOS, with Android support promised soon across the board.

Bier also introduced a snooze option for the For You tab, allowing Premium users to hide topics such as politics or sports for a 24‑hour period. By giving members granular control over both what appears and what disappears, X hopes to curb fatigue and keep high‑value conversations front‑and‑center. The tools are live on iOS and the web today and will be monitored for abuse.
