Warner Bros. has released the first full trailer for Supergirl, starring Milly Alcock as the titular hero, ahead of its summer release. The trailer showcases Alcock's Kara Zor-El, who is more jaded than her cousin after witnessing Krypton's destruction. She reluctantly embraces her superhero role when an unexpected adversary threatens her dog Krypto.

The film follows Kara as she turns 23, declaring it will be her best year despite low expectations. When danger strikes, she teams up with Ruthye Marye Knoll, played by Eve Ridley, on an interstellar journey of vengeance and justice. The cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as villain Krem of the Yellow Hills and Jason Momoa as Lobo, the alien bounty hunter.

David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham portray Supergirl's parents, Zor-El and Alura In-Ze, while Ferdinand Kingsley plays Ruthye's father, Elias. The trailer also features Krypto, who makes a memorable entrance by peeing on a newspaper. This DC Universe installment promises a darker, more complex take on the Supergirl character, setting up what could be a significant addition to the superhero franchise.
