Google's upcoming Pixel 11 will feature a new notification system called HiLight, which repurposes the camera flash into a multicolor LED. This light will activate when the phone is placed face down, a departure from traditional front-facing notification LEDs.

HiLight also appears to be integrated with Google's Gemini AI. Similar illuminated features are expected on upcoming Googlebook laptops, branded as the "Glowbar," and the new Google Home Speaker. These integrations suggest the HiLight will visually indicate interactions with Gemini, changing colors to represent different statuses.

This hardware innovation comes alongside other expected updates like Qi2 magnets, branded as Pixel Snap. While the utility of a rear-facing notification light for a face-down phone remains to be seen, its connection to Gemini could be a key selling point. Google is expected to reveal more details about HiLight on August 12.
