Universal Pictures released a new 2.5-minute trailer for Christopher Nolan's adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey, showcasing the director's signature epic scale. Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca beginning his long journey home after the Trojan War, while Anne Hathaway plays his faithful wife Penelope waiting in Ithaca.

The ensemble cast includes Tom Holland as Telemachus, Robert Pattinson as suitor Antinous, and Charlize Theron as the enchantress Circe. Zendaya appears as Athena, with Lupita Nyong'o in an undisclosed role. Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, and Himesh Patel round out the supporting cast.

During a recent appearance on The Late Show, Nolan compared Homeric epics to modern superhero storytelling, noting that much of Marvel and DC "comes pretty directly from the Homeric Epics." The story follows Odysseus facing mythical obstacles including the Cyclops Polyphemus and the Sirens, while Penelope wards off hundreds of suitors eager to usurp Odysseus' throne.
