An Ohio man has become the first person convicted under the Take It Down Act after authorities discovered he continued creating AI-generated nude images even after his initial arrest. Strahler was arrested in June 2025, just weeks after the law took effect in May. His phone was seized in April when one victim contacted local police.

Confronted by officers, Strahler admitted to creating and sending explicit images. The FBI investigation revealed he had harassed two ex-girlfriends and their mothers, along with finding images of two boys on his device. While on pre-trial release, Strahler was arrested again in June by another Ohio police department for continuing to send fake nudes to harass victims.

A search of his new phone uncovered more than 2,400 images and videos depicting nudity, child sexual abuse material, or violence. US Attorney Dominick S. Gerace II called the conviction a significant milestone in combating digital harassment. The case gained additional attention when Melania Trump celebrated the conviction on social media, praising the prosecution team for protecting Americans from cybercrimes in the digital age.
