At the Code with Claude developer conference, Anthropic unveiled a partnership with SpaceX that grants access to the rocket company’s Memphis data center. CEO Dario Amodei said the agreement will lift usage caps for Pro and Max plan users, doubling the five‑hour window and scrapping peak‑hour throttles. The move targets developers who rely on Claude Code for longer, uninterrupted runs.

The collaboration adds roughly 300 megawatts of compute power, according to Anthropic’s blog, and taps SpaceX’s Colossus 1 supercomputer, which houses over 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs, including H100, H200 and the forthcoming GB200 accelerators. In tandem, Anthropic raised API limits for its Opus model, giving subscribers higher request quotas and faster throughput for advanced workloads. These upgrades aim to keep Anthropic competitive as model sizes swell.

Beyond terrestrial resources, Anthropic expressed interest in co‑developing multiple gigawatts of orbital compute, echoing industry chatter that space‑based data centers could sidestep Earth’s power, land and cooling constraints. The deal marks a shift from Elon Musk’s earlier criticism of Anthropic, underscoring an alignment between AI developers and launch‑service providers seeking new revenue streams.
