Intel has added its highly anticipated "Crescent Island" Xe3P GPU IP as a supported platform to its Media Driver in the 2026Q3 release. This confirms that the company is working on bringing another GPU generation to the masses soon. With the Intel Media Driver 2026Q3, we learn that the GPU will support video acceleration as well. This means that video editing, video decoding and encoding, and processing will all be available on "Crescent Island," which we initially believed to be a GPU dedicated solely to AI inferencing.

At Hot Chips 2026, Intel detailed that the graphics card is designed as a 350 W, air-cooled, PCIe format. The GPU itself features 32 Xe3P cores, 256 XMX engines, 32 MB of unified L2 cache, and 160 GB of LPDDR5X memory. This memory configuration is exclusive to Intel-branded "Crescent Island" graphics cards, while the company allows its ODMs to equip the card with up to 480 GB of LPDDR5X memory.

We have yet to see how many SKUs we will get with "Crescent Island," and whether any of them will include 3D video output capability.
