Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick previously stated that 'generative AI has zero part in what Rockstar Games is building,' suggesting no AI-generated assets in GTA VI. Following the Gamescom GTA VI gameplay preview, Rockstar confirmed in a Q&A session that GTA VI contains no AI and no monetizations at launch, including no microtransactions, season passes, or other in-game purchases. The company may add such features later, but is avoiding controversial technology amid industry concerns about AI's negative impacts.

While GTA VI lacks in-game monetizations, it will offer a $20 Ultimate Edition upgrade with additional customization and cosmetics, which differs from predatory microtransactions. Rockstar and Take-Two are positioning GTA 6 as a premium experience free from exploitative practices that have drawn criticism from companies like EA, Pearl Abyss, and Capcom.
