The Cape Verde shot to stardom in June when he made seven saves and kept a clean sheet against eventual world champions Spain in his nation's first ever World Cup game. His Instagram followers surged from 56,000 to 14 million after the match, and he now has more than 28 million followers after a Ballon d'Or nomination. "I've lost my peace and tranquillity," the 40-year-old told The Observer. "I no longer have any privacy, or at least much less than I used to." He added that supporters now turn up at his mother's home in Cape Verde daily.

Vozinha also recalled learning of his Instagram fame minutes after the match when a catering staff member told him he had a billion followers.
