Carolina Reyna, sister of USMNT midfielder Gio Reyna, has been named to the United States' U17 Women's World Cup roster. This makes the siblings the first brother-sister duo to represent the U.S. at a U17 World Cup. Their father, Claudio, and mother, Danielle, both played for senior U.S. national teams.

Reyna, who plays club soccer in Austin, Texas, is one of six forwards on the team. Claudio played in the event in 1989 before captaining the senior team in four World Cups. Gio was part of the 2022 and 2026 senior World Cup teams and now plays for French club Strasbourg.

USWNT U17 head coach Ciara Crinion hopes to lead the team to its first U17 World Cup title. The U.S. has never finished better than runners-up, losing to North Korea in 2008. The roster features one professional player, Meila Brewer, who recently signed with the USL Super League's Dallas Trinity.

The U.S. will play Samoa, Kenya and China in the group stage beginning Oct. 19. North Korea has won the past two tournaments.
