Pulisic had not been selected by Mauricio Pochettino for the upcoming international friendlies. The U.S. star expressed relief at ending his goal drought, stating, 'It hasn't been an easy year... all that matters is to keep winning.' Milan had won only one home game since March and faced recent criticism after a Europa League loss to Benfica.

The three goals marked Milan's first Serie A shutout since March, with saves from Mike Maignan and Wladimiro Falcone keeping Lecce at bay.
