Manchester United have agreed a deal with Brighton for midfielder Carlos Baleba, sources confirmed to ESPN. The 22-year-old Cameroon international will move to Old Trafford for an initial £65 million with £5 million in potential add-ons, totalling £70 million.

Baleba is set to undergo a medical Saturday despite an ankle injury not considered major. He becomes United's third midfield signing this summer following Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. Sources said United were quoted over £100 million last summer, prompting CEO Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox to walk away over concerns Brighton demanded more than the £115 million Chelsea paid for Moisés Caicedo in 2023.

The agreed fee represents a roughly £50 million reduction. Baleba has made 92 Premier League appearances in three years since joining from Lille in 2023. United begin their campaign at newly promoted Hull City on Saturday.
