Roberto De Zerbi has stood by his past prediction that Mykhailo Mudryk can win the Ballon d'Or if he realises his potential. Mudryk joined Tottenham on a season-long loan, which can become permanent for £75 million ($101m). The move reunited De Zerbi with the player he coached at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Speaking ahead of Spurs' match against Nottingham Forest, De Zerbi said: "The potential of the player can be the same and can respect the prediction or not." He acknowledged Mudryk's struggles and suspension, but stressed the importance of the winger showing his ability. "It is the right moment for him to show [his ability] because if Chelsea paid €100m four years ago... I think they thought very well about the qualities of Mudryk."

De Zerbi also addressed Richarlison's situation, who was left out of Spurs' Premier League squad after expressing his desire to leave. The coach said Richarlison decided everything alone and that he wants only players with the right passion. "It's not my decision," De Zerbi said. "If you don't want to stay, why I have to keep you on the list?"
