Barcelona's squad spending limit has risen by almost €150m ($174m) to €582m ($676m), La Liga announced on Thursday, although it remains €250m ($290m) below Real Madrid's €832m ($966m) cap.

The increase enabled Barça to invest heavily this summer, signing Anthony Gordon and Rodri in deals that could eventually be worth more than €70m ($81m) each. Madrid also spent big, with Yan Diomande arriving for an initial €125m ($145m) as one of six new first-team arrivals.

Atlético Madrid rank third with €361m ($419m), followed by Villarreal (€170m / $197m) and Real Betis (€142m / $145m) in the top five. Sevilla have the smallest limit at €20m ($23m) annually. These caps cover first-team players, coaching staff, reserve and youth teams.

A source told ESPN that Barça are operating within their limit again, explaining their hopes of signing Julián Álvarez for more than €100m ($116m). The return to Spotify Camp Nou, renewed sponsorships and more than €1 billion ($1.16bn) in revenue boosted the cap, while departures including Robert Lewandowski, Marc-André ter Stegen and Ronald Araújo freed wage space.
