The Baltimore Ravens have named Jovaughn Gwyn their starting center for the season opener against the Indianapolis Colts, replacing Tyler Linderbaum, who left in free agency. Coach Jesse Minter announced the decision on Monday, expressing confidence in Gwyn, who will make his first career start after four years in the league. Gwyn, a seventh-round pick in 2023, has played only 11 offensive snaps but impressed during the preseason.

He previously worked with offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford during their time together with the Atlanta Falcons. The competition for the job was narrowed after Danny Pinter suffered a season-ending leg injury on Aug. 20. Minter emphasized that this is a Week 1 decision, not necessarily permanent, as the team evaluates its options.

In other news, defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike, who missed the last 15 games of last season due to a neck injury and surgery in April, has been practicing more and could be available for the opener. Minter said the team will monitor his progress as the week goes on.
