Atlanta Falcons quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered an oblique injury in practice Thursday and is considered day-to-day, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He was listed as a limited participant on the team's official injury report.

During the media viewing portion, Tagovailoa threw a pass, grabbed at his back, then sat on the grass before jogging off. He did not throw again. Backup Cooper Rush took all first-team reps in the team period.

"I'm not sure what happened, but it's Thursday practice," Rush said. "Practice has to go on and so you're up next, and that was a good day." Rush said he wasn't told if he'd start Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers but will be ready.

Tagovailoa was named starter Monday. He signed a one-year, $1.3 million deal after the Miami Dolphins released him, taking on an NFL-record $99.2 million in dead cap. He has a long injury history, specifically concussions.
