The San Francisco Giants placed rookie first baseman Bryce Eldridge on the seven-day concussion list Monday, likely ending his strong debut season. The move is retroactive to Sept. 18 following a head injury sustained in an accident at the team hotel in Los Angeles on Friday. Manager Tony Vitello said he does not anticipate Eldridge playing again in 2026, though the timeline allows a return for the final three games against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Eldridge, 21, hit .269 with 17 home runs and 57 RBIs in 386 at-bats since his May 4 debut. Drafted No. 16 overall in 2023 from James Madison High in Vienna, Virginia, he transitioned to first base this season. Vitello praised his defensive improvement as the most impressive part of his rookie year, noting Eldridge contributed "a lot of other little, small things" beyond power.

San Francisco also placed outfielder Jung Hoo Lee on the 10-day injured list with a groin contusion. The Giants reinstated infielder Marcelo Mayer from the IL and promoted outfielder Bo Davidson from Triple-A Sacramento for his MLB debut. Davidson hit .290 with 29 homers and 20 stolen bases in the minors this season. Left-hander Philip Abner was designated for assignment.
