American League Updates
The Yankees activated José Caballero from the 10-day injured list after he had been sidelined with a broken right finger, returning him to shortstop for Friday's series opener against the Rays. Boston's lineup took a significant hit as Trevor Story underwent sports hernia surgery, leaving the Red Sox without their shortstop for potentially several weeks while they continue to battle offensive struggles.
National League Roster Moves
Cincinnati's slumping offense received a boost with Eugenio Suárez's activation from the 10-day IL, deploying him as designated hitter to add power to their lineup. In Chicago, the Cubs placed Matt Shaw on the injured list due to back tightness while promoting infielder Pedro Ramirez, who was hitting .312 with nine home runs in Triple-Iowa before his call-up.
