LDC has made a new investment in Stonbury, a UK water and environmental sustainability specialist, with Federated Hermes joining as a minority co-investor. The funding will support organic growth, workforce expansion, and a buy-and-build strategy targeting additional services. Headquartered in Bedfordshire, Stonbury maintains and repairs critical water assets, including drinking water and wastewater systems.

Since LDC’s initial investment in December 2022, revenue has risen 74 percent to £78 million, and headcount has grown 58 percent to 443 across 10 locations. The company now operates under 37 customer frameworks, up from 25 at the time of acquisition. In 2024, Stonbury acquired Panton Mc Leod, adding 50 specialists in advanced inspection and cleaning.

With support from LDC’s value creation team, the firm has upgraded its IT and finance systems and appointed Colin Perry-Davis as CEO and Sarah Mc Math as non-executive director. Demand is rising due to aging infrastructure and regulatory pressure to reduce leakage and pollution. Stonbury has cut emissions intensity by 24.9 percent since 2019 and aims for a 50 percent reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030.

David Bains of LDC noted several acquisition targets have already been identified, while Cameron Payne of Federated Hermes highlighted alignment with their resource resilience theme.
