GTCR has completed its acquisition of Tactacam, a Billings, Montana-based company that provides cellular-connected trail and security cameras to more than one million US subscribers. The deal, advised by UBS and Kirkland & Ellis, was from Bertram Capital and the company's founders for undisclosed terms. Co-founders Jeff Peel and Ben Thorud retain significant ownership, with Peel continuing as CEO.

Founded in 2013, Tactacam launched its Reveal line of cellular trail cameras in 2020 and expanded into property security with Defend in 2024. GTCR plans to invest in product development and expanded distribution, citing Tactacam's mix of connected cameras, proprietary software, and subscription services as a strong fit for their technology-enabled consumer and commercial subscription businesses.
