Lee Equity Partners and Elements Health Investors-backed Carisk Partners has acquired FirstCare Onsite, a US-based provider of onsite occupational healthcare services, for undisclosed terms. Lee Equity and Elements led a recapitalization of Carisk in December 2023.

Carisk is a specialty risk transfer, care coordination and clinical services company serving the workers’ compensation market. The acquisition takes its clinical model further upstream, allowing it to engage injured workers at the worksite. Where more care is needed, Carisk can then provide a direct path into specialty care, complex care management, behavioral health and other clinical services.

FirstCare, founded by clinical director Nadeem Mir, places qualified clinicians directly at employers’ worksites to evaluate and treat injuries when and where they occur. The model aims to improve access to care, reduce unnecessary emergency department and offsite medical use, and minimize time away from work. FirstCare has historically resolved around 30 percent of workplace injuries without them developing into workers’ compensation claims.

FirstCare’s onsite model will be preserved under Carisk’s ownership. The deal also creates opportunities to expand onsite healthcare programs among large employers and organizations with concentrated workforces. Carisk intends to invest in the continued growth of FirstCare’s onsite model and to give it access to Carisk’s clinical resources, technology, data capabilities and national relationships.
