Lumus has expanded its partnership with Quanta Computing through a new licensing agreement to manufacture three next-generation waveguides for AR glasses: the Z-30 2.0, A-Lens 30 (30-degree FOV), and A-Lens 50 (50-degree FOV). Quanta will handle production of these components, which Lumus says are thinner, lighter, and easier to manufacture. The Z-30 2.0 offers a 30-degree field of view in a more compact optical engine with increased brightness and direct prescription lens bonding.

The A-Lens 30 and A-Lens 50 are positioned as lower-cost solutions, reducing weight and thickness by 50% while maintaining image quality and efficiency. Lumus CEO Ari Grobman emphasized that the partnership addresses practical challenges in scaling advanced AR optics for mass production. Lumus supplies waveguides to major brands, including Meta for its Ray-Ban Display Glasses, which recently doubled production to meet rising demand.

The company first outlined its vision for thinner, lighter waveguides at CES 2026, a goal reaffirmed by this agreement. As smart glasses demand grows, Lumus aims to improve accessibility through cost-effective, high-performance optical components.
