iOS 27.2 beta 1 arrived today, and with it a key new feature for the Apple TV app on iPhone: user profiles.

User profiles are common in streaming, but Apple TV has been slow to adopt them. You've been able to set up and switch between profiles in tvOS for a few years. Last December with tvOS 26.2, two key upgrades shipped: the ability to create profiles for users without an Apple Account, like a young child, and kid profiles limited to age-appropriate content. Those changes only worked on TV-based devices, not personal products like the iPhone.

iOS 27.2 changes that, bringing support for Apple TV user profiles to the iPhone. When you launch the Apple TV app in iOS 27.2 beta 1, you'll see a screen with existing profiles tied to your account. There's also the option to add a profile, and a button that reads, 'Don't Show This Again.'

Like in tvOS, if you select a child's profile on your iPhone, their TV app will be limited to only TV shows and movies that match the permitted content rating you've specified. For users who hand a child their iPhone or iPad to watch TV, profiles ensure your 'Continue Watching' won't be cluttered by children's content and provide a safer environment.
