Verizon and Corning announced a multi‑billion‑dollar agreement covering more than 80 million miles of high‑density optical fiber from 2027 to 2032. The deal will expand broadband to homes and businesses while building a national long‑haul backbone for AI hyperscalers. Verizon CEO Kyle Malady said the partnership enables a converged architecture uniting mobile and broadband services on a single high‑capacity network, supporting ultra‑fast, low‑latency connectivity for AI workloads.

Corning will scale its U.S. manufacturing to supply advanced glass and fiber, including the Corning® Contour™ Flow Cable, which maximizes fiber deployment in existing conduit. The collaboration aims to deliver fiber to 40‑50 million broadband passings, connect cell towers, data centers, and residences, and ensure AI benefits reach consumers, schools, and communities. By deepening a 30‑year strategic partnership, both firms position themselves as key infrastructure providers for the AI era.
