Hull FC threatened an incredible comeback from 30-0 behind against Toulouse, who regrouped to register their third successive Super League victory. The visitors were well below par in the first 40 minutes, conceding five tries without reply, and they were unable to fully repair the damage despite a much-improved second-half showing.

Three converted scores in eight minutes midway through the second period reduced Hull's deficit to 12 points. However, Harvie Hill's yellow card for striking Lambert Belmas, followed by an excellent individual try by Cesar Rouge, halted Hull's momentum. Olly Ashall-Bott, on his return to the Toulouse side after a spell out injured, added the French team's seventh try of the match.

Toulouse had earlier taken full control, with Thomas Lacans twice setting up Henry O'Kane and Luke Polselli finishing off a sensational move, as well as James Roumanos and Paul Ulberg also crossing. Aidan Sezer and Lewis Martin both scored twice for Hull, with Logan Moy adding their other try.

Hull are one of four teams level on 14 points at the foot of the table, sitting in 11th on points difference. They finish at Leeds Rhinos on 11 September. Toulouse rise to eighth, above Catalans Dragons, who could reclaim the spot if they beat York Knights on Saturday.
