GAA President Jarlath Burns insists integration between the Gaelic Athletic Association, Camogie Association, and Ladies Gaelic Football Association is not over, despite the 2027 deadline being missed. Former Irish president Dr Mary Mc Aleese stepped down as chairperson of the steering group, saying she was "dubious" about the GAA's real desire for merger.

Speaking at the Hurling Development Committee's starter pack launch in Belcoo, Burns denied integration is dead. "Integration is happening every day," he told BBC Sport NI. "Every decision we make, we're making it from an integrated perspective."

GAA director general Tom Ryan said the initial timescale was "a little bit too ambitious." Burns called the missed deadline "disappointing" but said it "doesn't end the process." Talks with Camogie and LGFA have already resumed.

"We will continue until every boy and every girl has equality of opportunity and can enjoy Gaelic games," Burns said.
