Lawrence Shankland suffered a hamstring injury just five minutes into Rangers' 1-0 win over Motherwell, an injury manager Derek Mc Innes described as "quite significant" and similar to one the striker sustained at Hearts last January. The captain had scored three goals in his previous two games, making the timing particularly damaging for the club.

With fellow striker Youssef Chermiti already ruled out for a lengthy period after ACL damage, Rangers face a striking crisis. Ryan Naderi netted the winner against Motherwell but, with three goals in eight appearances this season, questions remain over his ability to consistently replace Shankland's output.

Kevin Kelsy, signed from MLS side Portland Timbers, missed a golden opportunity on his debut. Former Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday noted that had Shankland played the full match, he likely would have scored. Ian McCall echoed concerns that neither Kelsy nor Naderi appear to be natural finishers, leaving Mc Innes with a significant rebuilding task in attack.
