World Cup-winning head coach Luis de la Fuente has agreed a contract extension with Spain until 2032. The 65-year-old's previous deal was due to expire in 2028.

De la Fuente guided Spain to their fourth European Championship title in 2024 before securing global honours this summer. He is now set to remain in charge for Spain's World Cup defence on home soil in 2030. Spain will co-host the 24th edition alongside Portugal and Morocco, with matches in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay.

De la Fuente succeeded Luis Enrique in December 2022. Since then, Spain have lost just twice in 41 competitive matches and won three trophies, including the 2022-23 Uefa Nations League. They beat Argentina 1-0 in extra time to lift their second men's World Cup in July.

"His results speak for themselves," said RFEF president Rafael Louzan. "I offered him an extension because he wasn't among the top 10 in financial conditions. Now he will be." Spain next face England at Wembley on 26 September.
