Trent Alexander-Arnold started his first England game for nearly two years, putting in a great ball for the opener. Trevoh Chalobah had a shaky start, losing possession and challenges, but settled to help keep a clean sheet. Marc Guehi delivered his usual reliable performance with important blocks. Lewis Hall combined well with Anthony Gordon and should have scored.

Elliot Anderson dominated midfield, keeping the ball ticking and winning possession back. Myles Lewis-Skelly started well but was booked and taken off at half time. Morgan Rogers hit the post twice, while Bukayo Saka had little to note. Anthony Gordon was a constant threat, scoring the opener and continuing to show his importance. Harry Kane scored with a good finish after a quieter night.
