Coventry City have signed English defender Stephen Mfuni on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City. The 18-year-old has appeared once for his parent club, making his senior debut as a substitute in last season's 10-1 win against Exeter City in the FA Cup. The England Under-19 international was then loaned to Watford, where he played eight times in the Championship. Mfuni becomes Coventry head coach Frank Lampard's 11th signing since they were promoted to the Premier League at the end of last season.

Mfuni expressed excitement at joining the club, stating he feels blessed to be there and is looking forward to working with a good squad. He mentioned Lampard wants him to show what he normally does on the pitch, whether at left-back or centre-back, and to keep being himself.

Coventry are currently 18th in the Premier League after losing their opening two games of the season against Arsenal and Hull City. Their next game is away at City on 5 September.
