Canada and the EU are discussing allowing Canadian goods, services, and workers in AI, energy, defence, and critical minerals to move freely, effectively shifting the EU border. Talks also cover shared infrastructure like underwater cables, data centres, cloud storage, satellite networks, and energy transport. Mr. Carney has spoken with EU leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, about visa‑free movement for Canadians. Farrell remains open to future EU arrangements, excluding fibre‑optic cables, emphasizing Australia’s global trade engagement.
