Wrexham Winless Run Continues With Birmingham Defeat

Wrexham's winless start extended to four games after a 2-1 defeat to Birmingham at the Racecourse Ground. Centre-back Phil Neumann scored both Blues goals, either side of a Callum Doyle equaliser. The result was a strong response from Chris Davies' side following their 6-1 Carabao Cup hammering by Brentford.

Birmingham deservedly led after 13 minutes when Neumann headed in Alex Cochrane's corner. Jay Stansfield missed a golden chance to make it 2-0, while Wrexham managed just 0.22 xG in the first half. The hosts improved after the break and equalised in the 54th minute when Lewis O'Brien's cross found Doyle.

However, the lead lasted less than 10 minutes. August Priske recycled a long throw to find Neumann, who glanced home his second. Wrexham pushed late but couldn't find an equaliser. Manager Phil Parkinson bemoaned the "softest two goals conceded in all my time at Wrexham".
