Nicolas Jackson scored twice as Manchester City suffered their first league loss of the season, falling 2-1 at Aston Villa. Villa's aggressive display, highlighted by Jackson's early finish off Marc Guehi's error and a second goal following Gianluigi Donnarumma's mistake, rattled City. Erling Haaland equalised with a header, but Jackson struck again to seal the win. Villa move up to sixth, while City's flawless record crumbles. Enzo Maresca admitted his side lacked clinical finishing, though praised Villa's combative style.
Key moments included Rayan Cherki's effort being saved by Zion Suzuki and Iliman Ndiaye's post hit. Despite late pressure from Haaland, Villa held on. Maresca also addressed Marc Guehi's substitution, citing a yellow card risk.
Villa's confidence from three recent victories drove their dominant performance, and their win marks a significant blow to City's title hopes.
