Villa agreed £29.9m (€35m) deal with Parma to bring Zion Suzuki. The deal came same day Juventus submitted a £8.5m bid for current Villa No 1 Emiliano Martinez. The bid is below Villa's valuation and negotiations continue.

Suzuki, 24, has been in transfer chatter, linked with PSG, but the move stalled, giving Villa fresh motive. He turned 24 this month, joined Parma from Urawa Red Diamonds in 2024 after a Belgian loan, and has 57 Serie A appearances over two seasons. He captained Japan at the World Cup, featuring in all four matches before exit to Brazil.

Juventus had eyed Emiliano Martinez since the window opened and hoped to also sign Zion Suzuki on loan from PSG had that deal happened. Villa now looks to strengthen squad ahead of Premier League and Champions League campaigns.
