Graeme McDowell secured a US Open return at Shinnecock Hills 16 years after his 2010 triumph, finishing in a share of fifth at the Dallas qualifier. The 46-year-old shot back-to-back 69s, earning his first major appearance since his exemption expired. Englishman Nathan Kimsey made a record-setting run at Walton Heath, tying the course mark and grabbing a debut spot.

McDowell's comeback caps a long journey back to the game's biggest stage. Kimsey's bogey-free 68-64 effort featured six birdies and two eagles for a 14-under total. Meanwhile, Sergio Garcia missed a six-man playoff for the final Dallas spot by two shots, finishing at one under. Peter Uihlein topped the leaderboard at nine under for his first major since 2018.

Qualifying spanned Texas and England, with seven spots in Walton Heath and nine in Dallas. The field will also include Adam Scott, whose top-60 world ranking secured his 100th straight major. Sky Sports will broadcast all four rounds live from June 18-21. The 156-player field is now set for the third major at Shinnecock Hills.
