World No. 3 Iga Swiatek dismantled four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka 6-2 6-1 in just one hour and 22 minutes to advance to the Italian Open quarter-finals. The Polish star, who has not won a WTA 1000 event since the Cincinnati Open in August 2025, appears to be rediscovering her best form. Swiatek's resurgence coincides with her hiring of new coach Francisco Roig, who previously worked with Rafael Nadal, following her split with Wim Fissette after the Australian Open.

Jannik Sinner claimed his 30th-straight Masters 1000 win at the Italian Open, moving closer to becoming only the second male player in history to complete the career Golden Masters. The four-time Grand Slam champion dominated Alexei Popyrin 6-2 6-0 in front of his home fans. Sinner has won all five of the last ATP 1000 Masters events and hasn't lost a match since the Shanghai Masters in October. The Italian now has the chance to finally claim the only ATP1000 event he has not won.

Coco Gauff produced an incredible comeback, losing the first-set tie-break before saving a match point to beat world No. 17 Iva Jovic 5-7 7-5 6-2. The world No. 4's victory marks her second consecutive match where she came from behind to win. Gauff will face eighth seed Mirra Andreeva in the quarter-finals as she continues her quest for the Italian Open title.
