Stoke continued their impressive Championship form with a 2-0 home win over basement side Preston. Goals from Ben Wilmot and Jack Mc Glynn secured the victory, marking Mark Robins' side's seventh win in their last ten league games. Centre-back Wilmot opened the scoring with a powerful 29th-minute header from Mc Glynn's pinpoint cross.
Mc Glynn then doubled the lead eight minutes after the restart with a sweet left-foot strike. The defeat leaves Preston rooted to the foot of the table, suffering their fourth loss in five games under new manager Graham Alexander. Despite early chances and a penalty appeal for Robert Bozenik, Stoke dominated and should have scored more, with Million Manhoef missing a glorious chance late on.
