Shane Lowry has moved from The Bay Golf Club to Boston Common Golf in the first trade in TMRW Golf League (TGL) history, reuniting with close friend Rory McIlroy. The league confirmed the move, describing the McIlroy and Lowry pairing as one of the most recognisable partnerships entering the new season.

In return, The Bay receives Boston Common Golf's fourth-round selection in the 2027 roster formation process, the right to swap one selection position with Boston Common during one of the next three TGL offseasons, and commercial considerations.

Lowry said he was delighted to join, saying having McIlroy alongside him made the move particularly exciting and that he looked forward to helping the team bring a championship to Boston. McIlroy, co-founder of TGL and a Boston Common Golf Founding Member, described Lowry as a great friend and recalled their special wins together, including at the Zurich Classic.

The league is also expanding to seven teams with the addition of Motor City Golf Club, and rosters grow from four to five players per team. Teams may retain up to four players from their 2026 rosters, and then fill spots to reach five. Each match will still feature three players from each team at So Fi Center, giving teams more depth and flexibility for lineup decisions.
