Scottie Scheffler has won the award each of the last four seasons and could challenge for a fifth consecutive title, with the world No 1 enjoying another consistent campaign. Scheffler may not have won as many tournaments as in 2025, but he has still enjoyed an excellent year, picking up two victories at The American Express in January and the Fed Ex St. Jude Championship in August. What's been most remarkable about Scheffler this season is his consistency, becoming the first-ever PGA Tour player to secure three consecutive solo runner-up finishes at The Masters, the RBC Heritage and The Cadillac Championship.

Scheffler, Clark, Matt Fitzpatrick, Chris Gotterup and Cameron Young are all multiple winners on the PGA Tour this season, while others could join to make a late Player of the Year push at the season-ending Tour Championship, live on Sky Sports. Victory at the Fed Ex Cup finale at East Lake this week could be enough to give one of that quintet the edge ahead of the shortlist being revealed in the autumn.

This season's race is shaping up as one of the tightest and most open in recent years, with the 2026 PGA Tour Player of the Year award still very much up for grabs heading into the final events.
