The 108th PGA Championship kicked off with a historic leaderboard logjam at Aronimink Golf Club. Seven players share the lead at 3-under, while 48 golfers sit within three shots of the top—a major championship record. Defending champion Scottie Scheffler carded a 3-under 67, missing just one fairway and gaining over three strokes on the field with his putting.

Rory McIlroy struggled mightily, describing his 4-over 74 as "s---" after hitting only five of 14 fairways. His driver woes continued with bogeys on four consecutive holes late in his round. This marks McIlroy's second straight disappointing PGA Championship opening round, leaving him work to do just to make the weekend cut.

Australian Min Woo Lee impressed with a 3-under 67, hitting 10 of 14 fairways and 14 of 18 greens. Xander Schauffele quietly posted 68, while Bryson DeChambeau stumbled to a 6-over 76, likely missing the cut. Patrick Reed returned from a month layoff with a bogey-free 68.

The windy conditions and tricky greens at Aronimink proved challenging, especially after overnight rain. Scheffler's strong start puts him in position to become the first back-to-back PGA champion since 2019.
