Saka fit, James out as England gear up for Panama showdown

England manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Bukayo Saka is pain‑free and will start the final Group L fixture against Panama. The winger, who has only appeared as a substitute against Croatia and Ghana due to an Achilles problem, completed a strict medical review with Arsenal and cleared to play. Tuchel praised the process, saying Saka is now ready to lead the attack to boost group hopes.

Reece James will miss Saturday’s match with a minor hamstring strain, ending his group‑stage participation. Tuchel placed Djed Spence, Jarell Quansah and Ezri Konsa on the right‑back shortlist and explained centre‑back Trevoh Chalobah’s selection frees Quansah for that role firmly. Both Elliot Anderson and Declan Rice completed full training; Rice carries a yellow card that could suspend him for the knockout round.

Anderson’s looming £116m move to Manchester City did not distract the squad, Tuchel said, as training remained focused on Panama. The midfielder stayed fit after a calf knock versus Ghana and is expected to start. With Saka, Rice and Anderson available, England fields its strongest XI for the final group game, aiming to secure top spot.
