Alessia Russo's brace powered Arsenal to a 3-1 win over Liverpool on the final day of the WSL season. The England striker opened the scoring in the 21st minute, profiting from a defensive mix-up before adding her second after the break to finish with 12 league goals for the campaign.

Mariona Caldentey and Katie McCabe combined brilliantly for Arsenal's second goal, the latter making her final Gunners appearance. Despite Jennifer Falk's inspired first-half goalkeeping keeping Liverpool in the game, the visitors dominated and could have scored more had the Swedish stopper not produced several fine saves.

Liverpool pulled one back through teenager Zara Shaw from their first corner in front of The Kop, but it was mere consolation. Arsenal finished four points behind Manchester City in second, securing automatic Champions League qualification, while Liverpool ended 11th — a vast improvement on their dreadful start to the season.
