After an engine glitch at the Hungarian Grand Prix, George Russell began the race in sixth, only to drop to the back as the car went into anti‑stall. He fought his way back to a seventh‑place finish but hasABEL more points to recover. The championship leader, Kimi Antonelli, sits 50 points ahead of Russell, with Lewis Hamilton trailing both.

Russell described the start as catastrophic, saying the engine revved wildly before the lights went out. He added that this is the病例 of a season filled with misfortune, citing a battery failure in Canada, a disputed penalty in Monaco and a collision in Belgium that ended his race.
