George Russell claimed Sprint pole for the Dutch Grand Prix, saying it was good to remind himself he still has the talent after a difficult season.

Russell has been outperformed by his Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli this season, with the 19-year-old holding a 50-point lead over Lewis Hamilton and Russell a further nine points adrift in third.

At Zandvoort, Antonelli damaged his car in the gravel during SQ1, costing him significant downforce and leaving him fifth on the grid. Russell beat Lando Norris to pole by four hundredths of a second.

Toto Wolff joked that Russell's recent engagement to Carmen Montero Mundt had lifted pressure off his shoulders, allowing him to rediscover his form.
