Rory McIlroy finished runner-up at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, two strokes behind winner JJ Spaun. A cold putter cost him victory, leaving him tied-second on 15 under par. McIlroy now trails Patrick Reed by 308 points in the Race to Dubai standings.

Reed withdrew mid-tournament due to injury, but McIlroy remains focused on the season-long title. McIlroy has finished second four times at the DP World Tour flagship event since his 2014 win. He aims to finish No. 1 again to draw level with Colin Montgomerie's eight Race to Dubai titles.

McIlroy will next feature at the DP World India Championship before the season-ending Play-Offs in the Middle East. Despite the near-miss, he remains excited for the battle with Reed.
