Emma Raducanu has not been selected by Team GB for the September Billie Jean King Cup (BJK Cup) Finals in China. The British No 1 was the notable absentee as Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart, Mika Stojsavljevic and Jodie Burrage were chosen by captain Anne Keothavong.

The 23‑year‑old has been out of action since her injury‑curtailed run to the Queen’s final on 14 June. A stress fracture forced her to withdraw from Wimbledon, and she has not played competitively for six weeks. Her recovery appears to have cost her a place in the GB squad, which ran from 22‑27 September in Shenzhen.

A fifth team member could be added closer to the tournament, but the omission raises fresh doubt over Raducanu’s availability for the upcoming US Open, which starts on 30 August.

Great Britain beat Japan to reach a third successive semi‑final in the BJK Cup, only to be eliminated by the United States.
