Raducanu Faces Lower Leg Issue Ahead of Wimbledon Clash

Emma Raducanu has confirmed she is dealing with another injury concern but still plans to play on the opening day of Wimbledon. The British No 1 will face Croatia’s Antonia Ruzic on No 1 Court at 1 pm. Fans await whether the lower leg niggle will hold her back.

Her preparations were dented by a right lower leg problem that flared after Queen’s Club two weeks ago. Raducanu says the Queen’s Club run added load, with five matches after a long layoff. She has been managing the niggle with her team, exhausting all options.

She was spotted in a protective boot Wednesday and did not take to the practice courts until Saturday. A short session against Anna Kalinskaya ended after four straight losses. Sunday’s work with hitting partner Alexis Canter gave her a glimpse of recovery on the court.

Despite the niggle, Raducanu believes Wimbledon is worth the risk. She says the tournament is the one she pushes beyond for, and she will take the chance. The match will test whether her team’s preparation can keep her healthy for the contest of the first.
