Premier League leader Jonny Clayton suffered a shock exit at the European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen, thrashed 6-1 by home favourite Martin Schindler. Clayton, who had extended his lead at the Premier League summit just days earlier with victory over Luke Littler, managed only three darts at double throughout the match.

Michael van Gerwen survived a match dart to edge past Jermaine Wattimena 6-5 in a last-leg decider. The two-time tournament winner broke Wattimena's throw in the final leg after a low-scoring encounter where both players struggled to consistently hit trebles. Ross Smith also progressed with a 6-5 victory over fifth seed Josh Rock, missing a potential nine-dart finish in the deciding leg.

Fourth seed James Wade joined Clayton in exiting early, beaten 6-3 by Nathan Aspinall. Seventh seed Stephen Bunting suffered the same fate against Wessel Nijman. Only sixth seed Gerwyn Price made it through from the top seeds, defeating Chris Dobey 6-4. The quarter-finals begin at 6pm.
