Mitchell Lawrie, 15, has become the youngest player ever to reach world No 1 in the WDF rankings, cementing his status as darts' next big star. The Scottish teenager hit a nine-darter on the JDC Advanced Tour, defeating Ethan Hawden 4-1 while averaging 103. This remarkable feat came just weeks after Lawrie secured his top ranking by winning both the Slovak Open and Slovak Masters.

Lawrie's meteoric rise has drawn inevitable comparisons to Luke Littler, with the 15-year-old already claiming an impressive collection of titles. He won the JDC world championship at Alexandra Palace in December, adding to three senior victories earlier this season - the British Open, Irish Classic, and Welsh Open. The Scot also reached the WDF World Championship final last year, becoming the first teenager to achieve that milestone.

World champion Luke Littler has praised Lawrie's potential, acknowledging the comparisons between them. "He's a very, very good player at such a young age like myself," Littler said. While Lawrie must wait until age 16 to join the Development Tour, his current form suggests he'll be a dominant force when he does. With his nine-darter and world No 1 ranking, Mitchell Lawrie has firmly established himself as the sport's most exciting teenage talent.
